If you are spending £115m on a car…

For most of us, our car is our second most costly purchase, although if that’s true of whoever just spent a rumoured £115m on the world’s most expensive classic car, he or she must live in a particularly impressive mansion.

Your own runabout may not have cost quite as much as the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow 300 SLR “Uhlenhaut” Coupe, bought for that quite ridiculous sum at a secret auction in May of this year, but it is still likely to have set you back a hefty five figure sum.

And having bought it, you will be keen to keep it looking pristine, which means keeping rust at bay. True, it’s not as much of a problem as it used to be a few decades ago, but rust will still slowly eat away at the fabric of your pride and joy, even if – perhaps especially if – you store it in a garage.

When the temperature drops in the northern hemisphere, usually between October and March, rust rears its ugly head, attacking the metal and damaging your investment. It’s a particular issue when you drive your snow-covered car into the garage, pushing the humidity up massively and increasing the risk.

The answer is to install a dehumidifier from Ecor Pro which will remove any excess moisture from the air, keep the humidity level low and protect your car, even if it’s ‘only’ the second most expensive one on record – a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for £52million back in 2018.
